Basketball World Cup 2023: the complete list of teams qualified for the World Cup Paris 2024

The 32 teams qualified for the 2023 Basketball World Cup are known. Here is the list of nations that have their ticket for the world meeting scheduled in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023. Seven Olympic quotas for the Paris 2024 Games will be allocated there. 

The 19th edition of the Basketball World Cup will take place from August 25 to September 10, 2023 in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia. 

A total of 32 national teams will participate. To qualify, they had to go through six qualifying windows spread over 15 months. In November 2021, on the starting line of the qualifiers, there were a total of 80 countries from four regions: Africa, Americas, Asia-Oceania and Europe. 

This Monday, February 27, the last ticket for the 2023 Basketball World Cup was won by Serbia. 

In addition to crowning a new world champion, the planetary meeting will be used to allocate quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 

Seven tickets for the next Olympic Games will be awarded to the best nations in each region based on the final ranking of the 2023 World Cup. The distribution of quotas will be as indicated below:

Two quotas for the two best teams in the Americas zone

Two quotas for the two best teams in the Europe zone

A quota for the best team in the Africa zone

A quota for the best team in the Asia zone

A quota for the best team in the Oceania zone

As host country, France has already obtained an Olympic quota for the Paris 2024 Games. After the 2023 World Cup, there will remain four quotas to be allocated thanks to the results of the Olympic Qualification Tournaments for Paris 2024!!

The 32 teams qualified for the 2023 Basketball World Cup will be divided into eight groups of four in the draw scheduled for Manila on April 29, 2023!! 

AFRICA ZONE

It is the second thunderbolt of these qualifications for the 2023 basketball world cup with Nigeria, present at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo, which fell by the wayside. With a large contingent of players in the NBA, the Nigerians have poorly mastered these qualifications, losing twice against Côte d'Ivoire and Cape Verde, and especially by conceding a last defeat at home against Angola (59-65 ) fatal and eliminatory. A final setback that allows Cape Verde of Walter Tavares (Real Madrid) to play their first world championship in their history, a historic achievement for this small country of 600,000 inhabitants! South Sudan will also play its first final phase in its history, after dominating its qualifying group (one loss in 12 games). The selection of Luol Deng is a physical team that is progressing rapidly and confronting the world's gratin will be the best reward for this African country!
