Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton between rebound and retirement !!

Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton between rebound and retirement !!

Covering !!

While his contract with Mercedes will expire at the end of 2023, the Briton intends to return to the top!!

But what if he doesn't? At the crossroads !!

Having become 38 years old, Lewis Hamilton is no longer that fiery young driver who landed at McLaren in 2007 with his teeth scratching the asphalt!! If the ambition to be the best has not changed one iota, the Stevenage native has grown and matured over the seasons, some culminating in a title – seven in total (2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), a record he holds with Michael Schumacher –, others inpain and frustration!!

He learned from failure. But that doesn't mean he accepts it. In this regard, the last two seasons have been formidable for him. From this 8th coronation soaring during the final stint of the 2021 season against Max Verstappen, at the end of race circumstances that he will never digest, to a gamey 2022 vintage due to a Mercedes far from being at the level , Hamilton had to bite the brakes. But for how much longer?

Lewis Hamilton seems to be in the same state of mind as his boss when he gets out of his car the gap with Red Bull is not as big as he feared and the W14 can therefore come back in the game according to him. Qualified 7th at Sakhir, a few hundredths from 5th place in Alonso, Hamilton shows a more combative face than yesterday.

“We entered this qualification with a very open mind. I woke up this morning thinking we were going to be a lot further behind, so the fact that we got into Q3 carefree was great. "We took a step forward today and the car felt a lot more alive this morning, and all of a sudden we were in adifferent place from where we were the day before."

"But then we got to qualifying and to me the car didn't feel so lively anymore, it was pretty average." "The direction I've taken with my settings, I hope it works better tomorrow because I tried to set my F1 for the race. It made things a bit difficult for qualifying."

"This gap, it's not an insoluble mountain to climb, so that's a positive, and I know everyone at the factory has worked so hard. We can definitely close the gap, we really have to focus and push like never before!!
