 Tessa Worley announces her retirement 




Grand-Bornand skier Tessa Worley competed in her last World Cup race this Sunday at the giant Soldeu (Andorra). 

It was the FFS who announced the news of this end of career, for the Haut-Savoyarde, best tricolor skier of the last quizne years !! 

Worley: 'I wouldn't have done anything differently, I have no regrets'




Carrer


       In 254 races on the world circuit and more than 17 years of career,Worley, a double world champion, has had a successful career, with 36 podiums, including 16 victories. She won two World Championship titles in the giant slalom in 2013 and 2017, and two small crystal globes in the same discipline. She suffered injuries throughout her career, including a knee ligament tear and meniscus lesion before the Sochi Olympics in 2013. Despite her injuries, she remained a resilient and competitive athlete, achieving top-five finishes in her final season. Her retirement leaves a huge void in the French women's team, which she has been a part of for many years. Worley finished her skiing career without an Olympic medal, but her successes in other competitions ensure her legacy as a great skier !! 



The longest career on the women's tour


The Haut-Savoyarde was also a pillar of the French women's alpine ski team for many years, carrying the team on her shoulders. Her retirement will leave a huge void in the French team and in the women's circuit in general !! 


Tessa Worley expressed that she had no regrets and wouldn't have done anything differently. She ended her career this season on a note without podiums, but her remarkable career will go down in the history of French and world alpine skiing !! 



Perseverance career


Tessa Worley is also known for her perseverance and resilience in the face of injury. In December 2013, she suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee and a meniscus injury just before the Sochi Games. However, she showed incredible determination and resilience to get back to her best. She continued to perform at the highest level and consistently placed in the Top 5 in World Cup events, even this season !!

Tessa Worley is one of ten French people at least double world champions in individual events. 

Her retirement leaves a significant void in the French women's alpine ski team, as she has carried the team on her shoulders for several years. Tessa Worley was a great lady of skiing and had an exceptional career marked by victories, titles and incredible perseverance in the face of obstacles !!



Outside of skiing


Beyond her sports performances, Tessa Worley is also recognized for her personality and her commitment to social and environmental causes. It is particularly involved in the promotion of biodiversity and organic farming !! 



Brief


With the departure of Tessa Worley and that of Johan Clarey, the French alpine ski team has lost two of its greatest champions. But it can count on a talented young generation, led in particular by Alexis Pinturault, to continue its tradition of success on the slopes !! 

"I leave serene, happy, very proud of all these years," she told Eurosport. I made my way to the end, I want to live something else, I will remain a ski enthusiast." Tessa Worley

During all these frantic years on the icy slopes, Tessa Worley never saw Mount Lyford again. "After my career, I will go back, that's for sure," she promised AFP in 2021.
